The choice of materials for the construction of PublicPrivate has been crucial. The artist looked for two different materials, aesthetically as similar as possible, but with different technical features. This lead the choice of iron and steel. Simply polished they appear similar, but when exposed to atmospheric elements, or in contact with water, they react in different ways. Iron, over time, easily rusts and deteriorates, while the steel retains its original sheen. The word “Public” is made of steel, the word “Private” of iron – the reference is obvious: water. Over time, the work will evolve and will highlight more precisely a fundamental concept: that water is a public good.

Le choix des matériaux pour la construction de PublicPrivate a été crucial. L'artiste a cherché deux matériaux les plus égaux possibles d’un point de vue esthétique, mais comportant des caractéristiques techniques différentes. Le choix est tombé sur le fer et l’acier ; simplement polis ils semblent similaires, mais quand ils sont exposés aux agents atmosphériques, ou au contact de l'eau, ils réagissent d'une manière différente : le fer, au fil du temps, a tendance à rouiller et se détériorer, alors que l'acier conserve son éclat d'origine. Le mot « Public » a été réalisé en acier, le mot «Private» en fer - la référence est claire : l'eau. Avec le temps, l’œuvre évoluera et mettra en évidence de plus en plus précisément un concept fondamental : l'eau comme bien public.
